Dental Tips Beenleigh

Good oral health habits start early. That’s why Beenleigh Marketplace Dental supports the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) — a government program that helps eligible families cover the cost of essential dental care for their kids.

What is the CDBS?

The CDBS is an Australian Government initiative that provides up to $1,158 in benefits per child, over two consecutive calendar years, to help cover basic dental services. It’s designed to make sure cost isn’t a barrier to your child getting the dental care they need.

Is my child eligible?

Your child may be eligible for the CDBS if they:

  • Are aged between 2 and 17 years
  • Are eligible for Medicare
  • Receive, or belong to a family that receives, certain Australian Government payments

The two-year benefit period begins in the calendar year your child first becomes eligible and receives their first dental service. Any unused funds don’t carry over once the two-year period ends, so it pays to make use of the full benefit while it’s available.

What does the CDBS cover?

Under the CDBS, eligible services include:

  • Check-ups (scale, clean and polish)
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root canal treatment

Please note: the CDBS doesn’t cover orthodontic or cosmetic treatment, or services provided in hospital.
